Objektforum: Evolutionary Software Architecture
Just attended todays Objektforum in Karlsruhe. It was again interesting to see that a similar mixture of developers, no architects, no managers are listening to the varying sessions through the year.
In the many analogies made today between software development and building houses I missed one additional analogon: At one point in time you decide to remove an old house and build a new one on the same ground. I would like to have a measure when this should be made with software. I mean, developers might tend to the view that it is often the case that an old piece of software should be completly rewritten. But when is this point objectivly reached? Any ideas?
