What is Oracle CM SDK?

Hm, I tried to follow the presentation of the Oracle guy, but I didn't get it completly. Underneath it uses all the well known (and partially buggy/problematic) Oracle building blocks like Oracle Text, IFS, Intermedia, Workflow...

Oracle CM SDK itself is a set of Java classes acting in an iAS environment. I really can't see if I would have an advantage to take the Oracle implementation because I would have to customize it for sure. Maybe it's easier then to use the underlying Oracle features and start from scratch..

Oracle seems to try to join CM/DMS/ECM arena like a lot of other vendors before. But they are doing it half-hearted, from Marketing perspective (CM SDK) and from implementation perspective. Btw: The URL of the CM SDK start page is http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ifs/index.html, so the thing seems to be an attempt to bring IFS back in the game...

Finally, only to mention it: The planned live demo didn't work.

Second part of the evening was about new PL/SQL features. About some things like regular expressions, UTL_COMPRESS, UTL_MAIL and CONNECT_BY enhancements I already heared about, the Expressions and Expression Filter stuff was new to me. Another thing to look into...

Objektforum Karlsruhe 

Yesterdays session at the Objektforum was about semantic web techniques and ontologies. The presenter from Ontoprise gave a high level overview about what the company does and in which kind of projects they're working. That was not that kind of presentation I've expected...
